EmpowHER: Empowering Women through Football
The National Commission for Human Rights, with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, launched EmpowHER, a project harnessing football to empower women and girls from marginalized communities across Pakistan. Focusing on Hazara women in Quetta, women from Chitral, and women from Lyari in Karachi, the initiative provided three-month football trainings, capacity-building for coaches, and women’s tournaments in Karachi and Islamabad. By fostering social inclusion, building confidence, and challenging gender stereotypes, EmpowHER demonstrated the transformative power of sport in advancing women’s rights and well-being.
