NCHR has consistently advocated for robust domestic violence legislation at both federal and territorial levels. In September 2023, the Commission urged the Ministry of Human Rights to prioritize the passage of the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill for Islamabad Capital Territory. In June 2024, following the release of NCHR’s domestic violence report, the Commission issued a follow-up letter calling for comprehensive federal legislation to ensure uniform protection, strengthen response systems, and address the alarming prevalence of gender-based violence nationwide.
