In 2023, the Commission condemned police misconduct, including the use of lathi charge, against participants in Islamabad. In 2026, following the detention of over 100 individuals and the refusal of police to permit NCHR officials to inspect detention sites under statutory powers, the Commission issued a strong letter demanding accountability, coordination mechanisms, and respect for its mandate.
