In February 2022, NCHR exercised its statutory mandate to investigate human rights violations by calling for records and a briefing from the Islamabad police regarding FIR No. 442/2021, the case of Usman Mirza, which raised grave concerns regarding the rights to life, liberty, privacy, dignity, and fair trial.
